Upload Image Capability
DoneIt may not fit within the spirit of the app so I understand why this may not get added. But it would be nice to upload an image, say a map, to a story. Or maybe concept art of characters or creatures. But only keep it to one image per user per story, or one image per story entry, something like that.

Yeah I figured the moderation would be a barrier. My single concern with the community drawing would just be “griefing” other people’s drawings, so a versioning type of functionality would be necessary, I think. But the community drawing idea itself fits in more with the spirit of the app, so I’d say it’s a good idea over all.
Somehow this does not sit right with me. I understand where the idea comes from but I would argue that writers do not need images. It would be cool to maybe sketch out a character or upload an image that would represent him, maybe the map, the place they were at etc. But is it not the point of written to purely imagine all that lays before you? I think that being able to add images would defeat the purpose of imagination in writing itself and to the reader. Why would someone think about how some monster from a story looks when they could just look at the image. If you understand what I mean. I'd rather much imagine how everything looks than actually see it, alas, that is just personal opinion. If Half Quill plans to branch out to different types of creativity, not just creative writing then most definitely a 10/10 suggestion, in any other scenario, I cannot agree with the idea.
That's quite a strong reaction. I hear you. Given this reaction, I would want to do a poll before implementing this anyway. Would you think about this different if we were only allowed to iterate on a cover image?
I’ve been thinking about this one for a week or so now, so it’s cool that you’re suggesting it now. I think it would be awesome to allow for more personal expression. Visuals would be an amazing thing to add, but I have three concerns: 1. Moderation: I would need to somehow moderate this even more than writing. Explicit uploads can be a contentious thing. Are they artistic? Are they just provocative? Half Quill doesn’t have an 18+ mode or something like that and I am unsure on where I stand on this. 2. Collaboration: Images are quite one-and-done. So it becomes a little harder to guide other strangers into a direction while working on a store when an image gets uploaded. 3. Silliness: Half Quill is a playground. It’s inherently a little silly. We’re just here to have fun. So where my head is right now, is… drawings? What if you could draw with a colour picker on the app itself? It’s a little silly for sure, other people could add to your drawings by drawing more on top of it (collaboration), and moderation would be less of a concern because let’s face it: how many people are able to really draw something utterly realistic on a touch screen or whatever? What does this reasoning make you think?
